One of my favorite recent conspiracy theories involves multiple levels of the government – elected, appointed, and employed, the election, and the machinations of the Washington power players. I’m not saying it is true or even possible, but it is a tasty bit of cynical paranoia that highlights how little people trust said power players and the election process.
Hillary Clinton is being investigated. Okay, her server is. Still. How is it possible for this to be happening this close to an election? Aren’t there power brokers to keep this from happening? Ah! But maybe that means those power brokers don’t want Hillary as President or maybe they are fine if she’s President as long as they are still in power. Perhaps she was delivered a cryptic message to play ball or be indicted. Maybe that’s the tip of the iceberg of what these shadowy agents have on her!
And maybe, and this is where I really start to enjoy this theory, maybe they don’t care if Hillary plays along. Maybe they have other plans. Who would they rather have as President? Who would make a more powerful nominee? Joe Biden. Who will the super delegates flock to if Hillary is no longer able to pursue the nomination? Joe Biden. Who says he regrets not running? Good ol’ JB.
Hillary is a mad dog salivating over the idea of being President. It would take a lot to get her to drop out, but maybe that’s why they are letting the investigations go on. Will they let her be indicted? Doubtful, but it might be part of the massive conspiracy to have leverage against her. Two weeks before the Democrat’s convention, Hillary will have an incident. (That’s part of the theory, not me using my precognitive abilities!) Maybe it will be Bill. At any rate, this incident will make her say she is unable to continue in the race at this time as she is ill/caretaking/embarrassed by her arrest. She will strongly suggest (but not endorse) Joe Biden. He will step in with a bit of feigned reluctance, wish her well, and give a speech about the good of the party/good of the country/good of the world.
That’s a pretty big conspiracy theory! Not only does it require a level of cynicism, it would also necessitate hundreds of people being controlled by these powerful Joe Biden backers. One version of the theory suggests it was always the plan to do this so Biden wouldn’t have to take part in Democrat debates or spend time and resources campaigning until after the convention.
Probability on this one is pretty low. Even I’m not this paranoid, but on the other hand, it does make a certain sense. I find it hard to believe Hillary is still under investigation. Shouldn’t she have the kind of mojo to make that kind of thing disappear? What would the Bernie Backers do if their candidate was pushed aside for Biden? It might not be true, but it sure is fun to speculate!
